About seven or eight generations back, a member of Andy Millman's family emigrated to America from England. Upon arrival at Ellis Island, that Millman found his name changed on his papers to "Melman".Melman had a great-grandson named Lawrence, known to his friends as "Bud", who found fame and fortune passing out towels to visitors arriving at the Port Authority Bus Terminal.
This is, of course, conjecture.
