My favorite flower...the Sunflower.

My Sunflower Bride was the sweetest bride.ever.
She contacted me to help her out with her wedding and I knew I wanted to work with her right away because she was just so sweet and I love sunflowers.

Her bouquet was a compose of blue hydrangea and sunflowers.
You can't see the variegated lily grass loops but they are there as the collar to the bouquet.

I made her a hair piece to match her bouquet.
It was yellow chrysanthemums that look like mini sunflowers, blue hydrangea florets and lily grass loops all glued onto a salal leaf that was glued onto a clear comb.

I always make two so that the bride can freshen up her hair piece as the day goes on.
Especially if it's something as fickle as hydrangea.
She's so pretty!
Her bridesmaids were all so helpful and her groomsmen help set up the ceremony site like it was nobody's business.

They had so many cute details in her wedding it wasn't even funny.
I did not capture them all, but I made sure to capture my favs.
The couple had a tree on a piece of paper and this little note that read please leaf your thumbprint. The guests were to place their thumbprint on the trees to look like leaves.

After all the guests had checked in it looked like this.

They made 1000 cranes and they sprinkled a few here and there and a few of them made it on to the sweetheart table where they placed this lovely wooden block.

The rest of the cranes made it on to a family crest that Momma Sunflower made for the happy couple. How awesome is this?

The cookies with the stickers were killer.
Jealous much? Yes. I was.

This was an awesome couple and I wish the couple much love and happiness!

Bouquets to Art 2009 Part {2} The Gala

We turned this beautiful product from San Marcos Wholesalers

Into this!

Isn't it crazy? Silver tree is a branch with about 80 petals on it that are a deliciously gorgiffic(yes, that is a word) silver. We individually glued close to 2500 petals on our dress by hand.
I made the birdcage out of melveccia vine and orchids by hand and we glued the functional clutch and shoes as well. Brandon is the man.

So let me take you through our fabulous night!
We arrived backstage to the De Young Museum in San Francisco and were whisked backstage where all the models were getting dressed. There we began to see the dresses in the competition.
Here is Margret's beautiful dress. The rose petal detail is flawless!

We all had to do some last minute primping and here is someone gluing in her petals.

This was a creation by Joanne, Naomi , and Jenny.

This beauty was a stunning play on the famous Yves Saint Laurent dress.

This one was Rubie and Macs and they blew our socks off and we were not upset that they won first place because the dress is the EXACTLY replica of the famous bird dress by YSL.

SO then they lined up at about 6pm and were waiting to take the elevator down to the stairs where they would be judged.

My partner Brandon helped her up the stairs and then we left her there to do her thang!

The judges were there asking her about the dress and even after wards a few judges came by to comment that the dress was impeccable and that they were amazed we were not fashion students!B&B Floral Design Team at your service!

So then the judging was over and we made our way to the tents and we had to stop every ten feet to let people touch our dress and take pictures! I have 200 pictures and in all the pictures there's someone always looking at her!!! We were thrilled. She looked soo damn good.....

My birdcage was made with vines and orchids by hand! I love the whole birdcage veil look and knew I wanted to make one. Maybe someone will let me do one for there wedding.....?

Then it was time to have a drink and let people come up to our model and take a closer look.

We were standing here when I ran up to Nancy Liu Chin and told her I'm a blog stalker....I still don't care that I bum rushed her, I was too thrilled to be in her presence because I think she is just the best. Well that wasn't the word I wanted to use but my daughter reads my blog! lol

By the end of the night, we had our first meal of the day and of course I had to commemorate with a plate shot. :P


Next up will be how we got this bad girl together :P

Floral Hair Piece

I forgot to post about my pink floral head piece!
I remembered it only because I suggested to my partner that we make a floral hair piece or a floral birdcage veil for our model for the fashion show at the De Young. More on that later:)

I made a little DIY tutorial on how to make a wedding or event fresh flower hair piece.
Ready? k.

• Trust me you need this adhesive. It's water proof, holds everything together and I use it every opportunity I get to glue flowers together. You can buy it on line or at craft store for like $6.

• Two chenille stems or pipe cleaners.
• Floral Tape
• Bobby Pins
• You will need leaves that you want to use: ivy leaves grow everywhere*read: free*, that's what I used.
• Blossoms of any kind, in my case I used hydrangea florets.
• Lastly any beads, pearls, buttons, feathers, or jewelry that you would like to incorporate.

I'll start with the first column:

1. You have to fashion a head band from the two chenille stems. You basically twist the two ends together and stretch out a loop the size of a dime and then twist it and create another section. You make a other opening the same size and twist again. Like figure 8's.You should be able to make about 8 loops total. The green floral tape you see is where you tape on another little loop to both sides so that you can attach the bobby pins to that instead of to the long strip itself.
2.Cut out your leaves, florets or blossoms, and find a jar so you can place your headband at an angle so you're not gluing onto it flat{if you do, once you go to bend it to place on your head it will distort}, and then make sure your IPOD is on. :)
3. Start with one leaf in the center and layer each one, leaf by leaf, overlapping each other. All you need is a small drop of the adhesive. It's tacky so dab a little glue onthe back of the leaf, hold it for like 5 seconds, then position it and down hold it for like 5 more seconds.
4. Layer them in one direction and then down the other and what you are creating is a shelf to glue your flowers onto.
5. Pick the side you would like to place your cluster of flowers on. Either centered or off to one side like mine.
6. Apologize to the reader because I failed to stop and take a picture and just plowed away without stopping in between the greens and the florets and jewelry. oops. sorry!
7. But you do the same thing you did with the leaves, layer the blossoms and create a design you are happy with and lastly add the jewelry or buttons or whatever touches you like. The glue works wonders with these items as well. In my case I added pearls and beads.

Here's is my finished band. I couldn't get my camera to focus right so you will have to forgive me and my lack of camera skills. :(

Orchid Wedding Accessories

I made a white and silver Phalaenopsis, more commonly known as Butterfly Orchid, hair piece for a wedding or anniversary. Ok you could also rock this at a baby shower or engagement party. Where ever you decide to wear it, boy does this sucker last!!!

I'm telling you, I could strap one of these into your hair and it would so hold up for the entire day. Through I do's and hugs and kisses and dancing....I think I would go back and wear one myself knowing how sturdy these are. :)

Here is my Pretty in Pink contemporary Orchid and Stephanotis corsage.
It's the bejeweled version, lol!


It has a Mauve Orchid, 5 Stephanotis with pearl centers, pink jewels and pink molded wire and green Ming Fern.
