If It Bleeds, We Can Kill It

Osama Bin Laden is dead. He was a man. Not some monster in a cave, as it is easy to imagine. But a man. Someone who ate food and took shits. And while it is easy to make him out to be scarier than he really is, at the end of the day he is just a human being. And he can die.

The longstanding claim that video games causes kids to be violent has pretty much always been met with the reply that people can tell fiction from fact, even as kids. I don't know so much that this is 100% true. It is really easy to imagine people to not be people, despite being real life.

We live in a world where the imaginary dangers have eclipsed the real ones. About 60 people die every year from shark attacks. But thanks to Jaws and many other films and the news, we imagine that this is a serious danger. It is safer to fly than to drive, yet many people are scared to do so. Human beings have very specific, recognizable cognitive processing defects with regards to fear. We cannot figure out what to actually be afraid of. This is a problem.

Even at his worst, Osama bin Laden killed about 3,000 people in a year. That sounds like a lot, but it isn't. Way way way more people die in auto accidents. In 2001, 42,196 people died in the US from auto accidents. So why are we afraid of these guys?

Let me say, unequivocally, that I am not. I am not afraid of terrorism.

These are people are wretched shitheads. They believe in a warped twisted ideology of hatred and despair. But that doesn't make them scary. It makes them actually makes them pretty dumb. Just look at a few of the failures of the past decade to see just how dumb they can be. Shoe bomber.... rofl.

Afraid of you? Sniveling weasels hiding in caves because if you stick your head out we will blow it off?

No. You are pathetic.

Our politicians seem to be in a race to see who is the most terrified. Who can justify spending the most money to protect us from rare hazards that kill only a few people. Sorry, but I don't vote for cowards.

We don't need a big complex plan for dealing with terrorism. We don't need reinforced cockpit doors and we don't need to check everyone's shoes before they get on the plane. We just need a simple guarantee.

If you kill Americans, if you help people kill Americans, or if you plan to kill Americans; we will find you and we will kill you. We will go Munich on your ass. You bleed. We can kill you.

Can we please stop being afraid of these worthless pieces of shit? Please?
