The Advantages of Dividing Up Books
As I have been thinking more about how Novarium is going to be a virtual box set, it has relaxed some of the standards that were ingrained in my head from living with the restriction of a single text.
Today I am thinking about breaking out the "player's handbook" text into several, making it easier to use. Something you may not realize if you have never used a tablet at the table, but the smaller the book the faster the load times and page transitions. The number of texts needed at the table drops enormously from when you are preparing, so there really won't be a lot of closing one book to open another. At least, not enough of a pain in the ass to outweigh the positives of fast usage.
So I am putting the "What are RPGs" section into it's own book. Equipment is going to be it's own book. Magic is going to be it's own book. Character creation process is it's own book. Etc.
This also should solve a lot of the Word Wall problem by breaking the text into smaller units.
Thoughts on this kind of organization?
