As noted by an astute observer, there are now more board game events than RPG events at GenCon. Board games are also really making a cultural comeback, that adds to it.
I know board games have been my single largest entertainment expense after my wife's cable TV (I watch almost no TV, so I can blame her for that damn bill, hehehe) for the past several years. The production values are incredible, gameplay is solid, life is good.
My all-time favorite has to be Shadows over Camelot. What a supremely awesome game. Wow.
What sucks is that a few of my favorites are not beloved by my wife and our friends, so we never play them. Fury of Dracula in particular. It is extremely hard to solo because of meta-game knowledge. Such a great game. Sad panda.
