Eggnog Recipe!

Christmas season is finally here and with it have come the traditional Christmas recipes that everyone loves! This past weekend my dad persuaded me to try some eggnog. I was a little apprehensive at first due to the fact that raw eggs are an ingredient, however, I ended up loving it! So, in case you all have never tried it, just mix these ingredients together and pour yourself a glass of this tasty beverage.

Ingredients:

-6 large eggs

- 1/2 cup + 2 tablespoons of sugar

- 1/4 teaspoon salt

- 4 cups whole milk

- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract

- 1/2 tablespoon grated nutmeg

- 1/4 cup heavy cream

Preparation:

Mix eggs, sugar and salt in a heavy 4 quart pan. Whisk until completely combined. Gradually pour milk into pan in a slow steady stream while whisking. Turn burner on low heat and place pan on burner and continue stirring the mixture until mixture is thick enough to coat the back of a spoon. This should take between 45 minutes to an hour.

Next, strain the mixture into a large bowl and remove any stray bits of egg. Add the vanilla extract and the nutmeg. Stir until mixed. Pour mixture into a glass pitcher and leave it in the refrigerator to cool for at least 4 hours.
