Okay, so I talked with my GM from last session's Ars Magica game. Considering the quick build that I put together for the character, not understanding certain key issues in the system that turned out to be important later on, and the lack of information I had about what was going on for the covenant; my 1st character was pretty ineffective. She is going to let me rebuild the character with the knowledge I have now, and do a partial reboot.
Now, the following aspects of my character came through in the actual game:
1. Witty dry personality (my standard character personality)
2. A very large man with good strength and stamina (giant-blooded: seven feet+ tall)
3. Supposedly Norse (never talked in Norse yet, a key distinction I will make use of later)
4. Cast a few Corpus (body) spells during the session
5. 25 years old, 5 years of life post childhood, no years post apprenticeship (i.e. same build parameters as 1st character)
6. Named Brunor
7. House Tytalus
8. I carry around a sword and threaten to use it, though I actually havent, I will be keeping this anyway
9. I have been dealt a medium wound (that will stay, obviously)
10. I have case 2 spells: Eyes of the Cat and Disguise of the New Visage. And I have talked about having the power of healing.
So I need to stick within those parameters (or explain discrepancies, see below) or I would need to kill this character and start completely over.
Here is the plan:
Otto von Reichmarten
This guy was putting on a ruse. I only met briefly with the party before going down into the ruined structure, so there was very little serious heart-to-heart about covenant membership and so on. I am going to say that I have been putting on a front; a character named Brunor from the Norselands. He was angry, prone to violent solutions, and not very good with magic. This was an elaborate ruse to deduce whether the covenant was serious about restoring the ruins as their new home location (they are) and whether they are too reckless for my tastes (they are not). So next session, I am going to say "well, there is something I have not told you" and change my character accent from a gruff Norseman to a cultured German.
House: Tytalus
Age: 25
Size: +2

Characteristics: (reduced Strength and Stamina to 2, used those points elsewhere)
Intelligence: +2
Perception: +0
Strength: +2
Stamina: +2
Presence: +0
Communication: +0
Dexterity: +1
Quickness +1
Virtues: (mostly the same as before)
Self-Confident
Giant Blood
Gentle Gift
Warrior
Well-Travelled
Arcane Lore
Educated
Flaws: (before I was a furious Norseman, now I am not)
Optimistic (major)
Driven (major: to learn how to resurrect someone)
Ambitious (major: to be the most powerful Corpus magus in the world)
Weak Enchanter
Abilities: (major changes from before, much more learned person now)
Living Language (German) 5
Brawl (Punches) 2
Guile (Lying to Authority) 4
Awareness (Alertness) 2
Etiquette (Nobility) 2
Single Weapon (Longsword) 4
Dead Language (Latin) 5
Magic Theory (Corpus) 4
Artes Liberales (Ritual Magic) 2
Concentration (Spellcasting) 2
Finesse (Corpus) 2
Penetration (Corpus) 2
Magic Lore (Creatures) 2
Parma Magica (Corpus) 1
Arts: (Enhancement of previous choices with a lot more points gained from more efficient build)
Creo: 5
Intellego: 5
Muto: 5
Perdo: 5
Rego: 5
Corpus 15
Animal 2
Aquam 1
Auram 1
Herbam 2
Ignem 1
Imaginem 1
Mentem 1
Terram 1
Vim 2
Spells:
The Chirurgeon's Healing Touch : Creo Corpus (lv20)
The Severed Limb Made Whole : Creo Corpus (lv25)
Eyes of the Cat : Muto Corpus (lv5)
Disguise of the New Visage : Muto Corpus (lv15)
Grip of the Choking Hand : Perdo Corpus (lv25)
Seven League Stride : Rego Corpus (lv30)
I like this new build a lot. With Corpus at lv 30 for improvisational purposes I can do pretty much any kind of healing I need to do, change my body however I want, injure people in a Darth Vader-esque sort of way, and teleport. Once I get some experience under my belt, I can do these things to a larger number of people, over longer ranges, etc. I think it will work really well.
Thoughts?
