See below based on comments to last post; page number graphic adjusted as well as the table. I may need to switch out that image too, she is getting kind of compressed as the table expanded down, but I will make that decision later.
@ Stuart
This is 100% CMYK black only. I don't know how to make it darker except to switch to RGB black, but then that doesn't fade out very well and ends up with a sharper grey than I like. Am I missing something?
I don't understand the grunge line issue as a problem. I think it looks pretty nice and I use that font fairly sparingly, if at different sizes. Do you think it presents a readability problem? Is my lack of formal training causing me to misunderstand?
I tried doing the zebra stripes, but it looked like a madman's checkerboard because I now had 4 tones in the chart, since there is a horizontal and vertical distinction
Page number is at the top for 2 reasons. First, I put a lot of boxed images in the lower left corner of the body space, simply as a result of filling out pages that way more often than not. And if the page number is in that corner, I have to really pull it back from the margin of the body, which would in this case ruin the graphic element (which I did enlarge, per both you and Christian's suggestions). Second, on a computer screen, sometimes due to zoom levels when people are switching between pages the bottom of the page is cut off. If the page number is at the top, it is visible despite this problem.
@ Both Stuart and Christian, thanks for excellent feedback. Any more thoughts now?
