This is a paean to one of my favorite blogs and a recommendation for another one. One of my daily visits is to Left Coast Rebel who, it seems of late has had traffic at his site go through the roof. Felicitations on your success, LCR! It's a pleasure to read his posts and potpourri and I am glad others feel that way.
LCR's Saturday Night Special, the minute-by-minute blogging of the rapacious heaklthscare vote was a tour de force and made that despicable event slightly more watchable as the repugnant drama played out to its fetid finale.
Now a digression: in 2004, the right wing blogosphere was responsible, I believe, for taking down that absolute fraud, John Kerry and his handmaidens like CBS. Systematically, the bogus claims of Kerry's SEA and military heroics were deconstructed as was the out-and-out lies by CBS. It is probably not a wild assumption that Soros and company along with the Pantload-in-Chief's campaign learned this well and flooded the right wing blogs with paid-by-the-post trolls. This witless crew was not adept at anything more than cut-and-paste talking point renditions of the old grade school mantra, "I know you are, but what am I?"
While it was intellectually pathetic, it was effective and choked off any momentum that could be built for the pablumesque candidacy of John McCain.
That sites like Another Black Conservative and LCR offer the FMJRA for so many other right wing blogs and cite yet EVEN MORE new ones in their periodic posts is testament to the fact that the enthusiasm now has returned to the right side of the political spectrum. This increase in volume and enthusiasm will make it very hard for the paid-per-post cut-and-paste trolls to achieve the foothold they did in 2008.
But, interestingly, surveys have shown a growing disinterest -- even enmity -- amongst independents and even Democrats for his incompetence, duplicity, and narcissism.
It is at this point that I must make a candid admission: I was a devout loather of Hillary Clinton and was openly rooting for Obama to unseat her and banish the hated Clintons to the ignominy of political yesterday forever. But something happened around March 2008 that changed all that. At first there was the joke of Hillary shedding the universally ridiculed crocodile tears and whining that she couldn't get a break. Then Obama's infamous index-finger-to-the-cheek gesture and other similar occurrences that caused me to realize that the guy was an unrepentant, inelegant Chicago who took great pleasure in beating up on a (relatively) defenseless woman. It was a pathetic display by a schoolyard bully who seemingly had all the ugly, evil kids in the school behind him as he pummeled a defenseless girl.
Well, it wasn't that over-the-top, but you get the idea. It brought out in me one of the more noble traits here in America: that of our rooting for the underdog. Plainly put, I felt sorry for ol' Hill.
Now, events have played out to alter my initial perception and I no longer regard Hillary in such a sympathetic light, but it is fair to say that I have contracted full-blown ODS and literally despise Obama. I cut the man no slack and give no quarter. Hell, I would not even give him a dime. In fact, I would not piss on him if he were on fire.
So, in an effort to sate my lust for all things anti-Obama, I turned to stalking the sites of the disenfranchised PUMAs and it was there that I discovered HillBuzz. It is a site of uncommon wit, literacy, and piquant commentary whose principle maxim is the promotion of the current Secretary of State and secondary precepts of of securing respect for the female of the species and their abilities.
The progenitor of this site is an unknown person of uncommon grace and insight. I know nothing more save that he is gay and, to be sure, firmly rooted on the left but has that curious quality exhibited by such as Tammy Bruce of calling foul when wrongs are done irrespective of political origin. His remembrance of George W. and Laura Bush is amongst the most gracious and kind words written about our last president BAR NONE:
As we will always be grateful for what George and Laura Bush did this week, with no media attention, when they very quietly went to Ft. Hood and met personally with the families of the victims of this terrorist attack.
FOR HOURS.
The Bushes went and met privately with these families for HOURS, hugging them, holding them, comforting them.
If there are any of you out there with any connection at all to the Bushes, we implore you to give them our thanks…you tell them that a bunch of gay Hillary guys in Boystown, Chicago were wrong about the Bushes…and are deeply, deeply sorry for any jokes we told about them in the past, any bad thoughts we had about these good, good people.
You may be as surprised by this as we are ourselves, but from this day forward George W. and Laura Bush are now on the same list for us as the Clintons, Geraldine Ferraro, Stephanie Tubbs Jones, and the other political figures we keep in our hearts and never allow anyone to badmouth.
That this person would write so elegantly and forgivingly about someone he clearly did not believe in, must give us pause and consider who our friends are in this political firmament. His essay is
Also, he and the other PUMAs who still believe Hillary got jobbed deserve our ear and our thoughtful discourse. They are, you see, the quintessence of what is referred to as the loyal opposition.
