Maps for Mandy

Zak says that Mandy is planning to GM an Arabian Nights campaign and he wants to get some materials together to help her. So here is my humble contribution. Of course, anyone can use them. I thought about adding major medieval Arabian cities like Baghdad and Alexandria, but I left them unlabeled so that anyone can use them for any project. I am sure Zak can help Mandy add whatever labels she wants.

All the files below are 11x17 so that they can be easily printed while still being quite big. Of course, this means you will have to click for full view as the images are very large.

This is the cropped & resized satellite image from NASA's Blue Marble project. Your tax dollars at work. Before you go running off to get your own version, let me add the caveat that it took my computer about 5 minutes just to resize the image DOWN and I am pretty state-of-the-art, that is how goddamn big it is. It comes in 21600x21600 pixel blocks. I had to combine two blocks because the dividing line ran through France, and I got a warning in Photoshop that I was exceeding the resolution capacity of most computers. So.... make sure you have a really good computer if you want to manipulate these images.

This is a simple stained glass filter to create a mosiac effect

This is a filter effect that adds a kind of Renaissance painting feel to it. Combined with a texture to make it look like canvas.

And this is a simple black and white with the water bodies removed. For printing purposes if you don't feel like doing color.

Enjoy!
